The Best Thing Since... Solid Coffee
Okay, so if you're not a caffeine addict, this one's not going to appeal to you much. But hang that, I'm a coffee fiend and I love it.
Spanish innovator Ferran Adrià's solid coffee comes in a mousse-like state that can be eaten with a spoon. It won't splash on your clean shirt, it won't stain your electric bill and you can't knock it over on your keyboard. Genius. Best of all though, it contains a "secret ingredient". And I'm rather fond of things that contain "secret ingredients". Anyway, whatever this is, it's mixed with ordinary espresso in a pressurised cannister and then allowed to solidify for 12 hours before it can be sprayed straight into a cup.
Better than sliced bread because:
Oh come on, any half-wit can saw a bit of bread off. Solid coffee's practically magic.
Roll-off-the-tongue factor:
Pretty on par. It could easily substitute for sliced bread, but there's no real rhythm to it.
Innovation rating:
Surprising, but not off-the-planet crazy. And actually, maybe it's not too much of a stretch from a cappuccino when you think about it.
SCORE: 6/10
Okay, so what's better than solid coffee?
