Phunny Phobias
If you met someone who was afraid of paper or wax statues, wouldn't you tell them to stop being so ridiculous and get over it? Every Monday, Null editor Hayley hand-picks another bizarre phobia and tries to work out whether it's real or rubbish.
This week:
Arachibutyrophobia: fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth
Hayley says:
"Don't people have anything better to worry about? Presumably if you're one of these nutters (oh what a beautiful, unintended pun) you despise the stuff, so what's the likelihood of suddenly finding it stuck to the inside of your gob? If you're that terrified of it, don't buy it. Talk about stupid.
According to phobia-busting firm CTRN (Change That Right Now) this is a condition that causes 'untold distress' to countless people every year. But thankfully they're offering a solution - $2497 and you'll be rid of the fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of your mouth for ever.
So there - in a nutshell - I think you'll find this week's answer. Rubbish."
So far: Real 0 Rubbish 1
More regular features coming up. But you can check out Dr Duck's Friday column, The World in Brief, until then.
Or you can decide for yourself whether you believe in maths fear and olivephobia.
