Drink Beer After Exercise
Live fast, drink beer. That’s the advice coming out of Spain today as new research claims that having a pint after you’ve exercised is good for the health. According to Prof Manuel Garzon, of Grenada University, beer has a couple of benefits over plain old water - the bubbles help you to rehydrate more quickly and the carbs replace lost calories.
Garzon experimented on a group of students, making them undertake rigorous exercise. A lucky few were then given a bottle of beer whilst the others had to make do with water. The boozed up bunch showed marginally better rehydration rates than the tee-totallers.
