Chicken Tikka Masala
Whilst it’s a myth that chop suey was first produced in the USA, chicken tikka masala was created in the oriental wonderland that is Glasgow.
Modern legend has it that it was invented when a customer asked for some gravy to go with his tandoori. The chef, who seemingly can’t have ever seen gravy before, improvised with tomato soup, spices and cream.
It is claimed that chicken tikka masala is Britain’s favourite dish, more popular even than fish and chips, bangers and mash and jellied eels.
