Hollywood ashes

When you’ve spent pretty much the whole of your career serving on the U.S.S. Enterprise, there’s really only one place for your ashes to be scattered. James Doohan, better known as Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in the TV series Star Trek, decided that when his time was finally up, he wanted his ashes to boldly go where very few people have gone before.
The idea for his final resting place was ironically given to him by Gene Roddenberry, the creator of Star Trek, whose ashes were fired into space in 1997, six years after his death.
It might sound like a nice idea but space travel doesn’t come cheap, not even when you are dead. To launch a single gram of ash currently costs £250 ($500) and from 2009 the possibilities of sending remains even further into deepest darkest space will set you back over £6,000 ($12,000).
