Killer Parsnips
As far as I can tell, the only way parsnips have actually killed people is by getting their relatives to do the dirty work. Wild parsnips – which are tasty – look, smell and most likely sound much like hemlock – which might be tasty, but won’t leave you much time to savour the taste.
Hemlock is a famous poison which was used by the Ancient Greeks to execute prisoners, including Socrates who has sentenced to death for corrupting the minds of the youth of Athens.
