Giant flip flops

By Mark Steer

High art: these flip flops in Munich were built as part of a horticultural festival.
If you ever find yourself wandering the outskirts of Munich keep your eyes open for the world's biggest flip flops. In fact, it's probably worth a trip to Southern Germany just to go and gaze in awe at such majestic footwear.

As far as we can tell the fantastic flip flops were built as part of the 2005 Bundesgartenschau - a biannual Federal horticulture show in Germany. Sadly, the 2022 show, which took place in Ronneburg has already finished. We'll have to wait until April 2009 before we can take a trip to the city of Schwerin in the hopes that new giant shoes will have been fashioned.

You can find this on Google Earth, or probably any other of those satellity sites, at the following grid reference: 48o 7' 53.21'' N; 11o 41' 10.24'' E.
