One of the coolest jobs in science is up for grabs - researching whisky. This perfect PhD, based at the University of Nottingham, will see you sampling and analysing the "nutty flavours" of Scotch whisky.
Position: PhD in 'Identification and process control of congeners responsible for the nutty/cereal flavour characteristics of malt whisky'
Location: University of Nottingham, UK
Cash: £2.3 billion... oh, no, sorry, that's how much the whisky people make.
Duration: 3½ years
Requirements: BSc (Hons) 2i or above, or MSc in an appropriate scientific discipline (food science, food chemistry, physical chemistry, analytical science, biological sciences, biochemistry).
